There is likely to be some sediment on the sides and the bottom that may be difficult to remove. It is not necessary to remove every trace of the sediment. After you have finished scrubbing, check for any leaks, if you find them, patch them.

Cleaning your garden pond accessories would be the next step. Depending on the types of pumps that you have cleaning pond accessories may be very easy. If there are any broken parts, you might want to replace them. Change your filters. You might find that you want to purchase some new accessories. If you do not have one, you can purchase a waterfall tank, or a fountain. With the pond empty, it is easy to install additional accessories. If your water quality was poor, you may wish to purchase a new filter. If you really want to improve the quality of the water, you could go as far as installing a UV sterilizer.
